Chamberlain Professional Products announces the introduction of the new LiftMaster® garage door opener surge protector designed to protect the entire garage door opener system in the event of an electrical surge.

The model 990LM is easy to install, has a protection rating of 761 joules and protects the entire garage door opener system, including the AC power line, control panel, and The Protector System® safety sensors from surge currents of up to 16,000 amps.

“The new garage door opener surge protector offers our customers a higher level of protection from lightning strikes and power surges,” said Dan Nixa, marketing manager, Chamberlain Professional Products.  “This new product is yet another tool to help our customers feel more safe and secure even under the worst weather conditions.”

The surge protector is compatible with all LiftMaster® garage door openers manufactured since 1994.  However, when used with Chamberlain’s recently introduced EverCharge™ battery backup system, customers will still be able to open their garage doors for up to 20 cycles for 24 hours in the event of an electrical outage.
